Then, with your other foot, slide diagonally backward. The Bronx Step involves taking a step diagonally forward. As the move has been said to take roots from salsa, the Side Step is also called the “Salsa Rock” or the “Latin Rock”. The Side Step is a top rock pattern consisting of a kicking motion with a one-side step. But the thing that separates this technique from the standard Indian Step is that there’s an extra hip twisting motion.Īside from being known as the “Hip Twist”, it’s also known as the “crossover Indian step” and the “original Indian step”. You still rock on top with your legs crossing one another. The Hip Twist is the Indian step with a literal added twist. Most beginner breakers will be able to get used to the pattern in a day or two. It is relatively simple, involving crossing your legs in front of the other. It’s also known under other names, like the “Outlaw Step” and the “Front Step”. Eventually, the name evolved into “Indian Step”. The Indian Step is a top rock pattern that was developed by two legendary breakers, Pow Wow and Sundance. Here are a few foundational and easiest ones. There are many different Top Rock techniques that you can use to ornate your routine. It is also used as a warm-up transition for more advanced moves, like Downrock. A good top rock is considered a point of pride. For this reason, many professional dancers put in a lot of effort to develop their top rock. Top Rock is often used to signal the style of the dancer at the beginning of the performance. Whatever the case, you can glean the meaning of these moves just by reading its name: simply dancing while standing upright. There are “uprock”, “tops”, “rocking on top”, and more. It’s called by many names other than top rock. Instructors often use these as beginner breakdance moves to introduce newcomers to the sport. Top Rock is considered by many as the definitive “intro to breaking”. And if you choreograph well enough, these basic moves can still be turned into an exciting routine! 1. Try them out as you move up the skill ladder! Basic Types of Breakdance Movesīasic breakdance moves aren’t as showy as the more advanced ones, but if you’re going to move to the advanced moves, it’s important to master the basics. However, if you’re starting out, there are actually many breakdance moves that are quite simple and safe to do. It’s part of the reason why a lot of people are interested in learning new breakdance moves: it’s a challenge to get the movements right. Learning about and accomplishing these moves are usually no easy feat. Breakdancing is defined by twisty, tricky moves that not only look complicated but also dangerous.

Thank you for the candid and detailed review. I might have gone to 4 stars if the name had matched the behavior more closely. With that said, it seemed to do the intended, if misnomered, job adequately (tested by unplugging ethernet cable at the machine). This app should be named Network Status Lite. I could pay to get the upgraded version but that requires I click on the status icon to determine wht I am connected to, but I just want an icon that shows whether I am connected to ethernet or not. It shows whether your connected to *anything* and have access. Tried free version and well, it doesn't do the one thing it says it does, not exactly. Search for it in the App store and find Ethernet Status. "So," I thinks to myself, "what you need is a status icon that will show when *ethernet* is not connected." Seems simple enough. When the storms pass, I don't always remember to turn on the ethernet adapter. I have a network adapter for ethernet in my office that is unplggued along with the server and other equipment. I have to unplug things when it gets bad or risk losing them (been there, done that). However, his tourney ended abruptly, losing from the small blind with against Soyza’s when all the chips went in pre-flop. With four remaining, the Spanish player Adrian Mateos was one of the major threats. Holz, who cashed for $965,000 in fourth place, fell just short of the top four as a result of the suckout. All-in with the best of it holding, Holz couldn’t hold against Daniel Smiljkovic, whose spiked an ace on the turn of a board showing. The board was not a kind one, however, as the British player hit a set on the flop of and after the turn and river, the field was down to five.įive became four when German poker legend Fedor holz ran out of luck in an awful spot. Shoving with pre-flop over Talal Shakerchi’s raise with and Soyza’s call with, Shakerchi’s re-shove meant that Adams only had to hit, as Soyza wisely elected to fold. With Petrangelo gone, the last remaining North American player in the event was Canadian Timothy Adams, but his tournament came to a close in sixth place for $756,000. Nick Petrangelo has enjoyed a profitable trip to Vietnam already, but he busted in seventh for a score of $566,800 when he ran his into the of Michael Soyza, with the board of giving Petrangelo no added hope to a two-outer river draw. With seven players remaining, it was the last American standing who was next to hit the rail. Both men called and Holz was hoping for a double elimination, but Soyza struck gold on the board of and tripled up, while Yu said goodbye. Yu shoved with, but had wandered into the coldest deck since the Titanic hit the iceberg, Holz holding and Soyza. Next to leave the action was Winfred Yu, who busted in eighth place for $418,400 when Michael Soyza and Fedor Holz had him in fatal trouble in a three-way all-in. The board of gave the Spaniard a straight and he sent Hrabec to the rail with $324,000. He shoved with only for Mateos to call him with. Hrabec started the final with just five big blinds and predictably perhaps was the first man out. It was a swift exit for the Czech Republic player Roman Hrabec, who already has a second-place finish to his name this series after starting the festival in top gear during the opening events. With 135 entries, a record-breaking Triton turnout, eclipsing the 130 entries in the 2019 Triton Main Event in London, the $100,000-entry Main Event began in fine style. Behind Shakerchi, Spanish superstar Adrian Mateos sat on 7.1 million, with a much bigger gap back to third in chips Daniel Smiljkovic on 5.3 million chips. The final nine players who gathered at the final table were headed by British hedge fund manager and high roller regular Talal Shakerchi, whose stack of 7.4 million chips equated to 74 big blinds by the time the final table was reached. It was a stunning result not only for PokerStake seller Soyza, but the German player Daniel Smiljkovic as two of the final three finishers in the event came in the podium places. The Triton Poker Series has reached its Main Event in Vietnam as the Hoiana Resort & Golf venue played host to a stunning finale, culminating in British high roller Talal Shakerchi winning the $3,250,000 top prize after getting the better of Michael Soyza heads-up. Naturally, on Nightmare difficulty, the sanity tracking method won’t work, so always make sure you’re doing your best to gather evidence. If it drops after interactions like this, it’s a greater chance you’re dealing with a Poltergeist. To prevent mistaking this for an Oni, who also likes to throw objects, if you notice environmental interaction nearby you, have a player watching for any dips in your sanity. It stands to reason that the primary way you’ll be able to gather evidence with this ghost is, if it gives its telltale trait away quickly, you can drop down the book for some ghost writing and check for fingerprints fast because you know this ghost is interacting with objects and will likely leave clues. Weakness: With nothing to throw, Poltergeists become powerless. Strength: Poltergeists can throw multiple objects at once. Known to manipulate objects around it to spread fear into its victims. Poltergeistĭescription: One of the most famous ghosts, is the Poltergeist. Using the Ouija Board is referenced in the description, but in general, cursed items such as this will draw out any ghost due to its drain on your sanity upon using it. It’s a ghost that doesn’t wish to be seen but communicates effectively in its ways. Also, more importantly, check your photos once you escape – if the photo says “ghost” but has no discernible figure shown, this increases the chances that you’re hunting a Phantom. The Phantom is a risky ghost, with its strength very much playing into its weakness and vice versa don’t look at it any longer than you need to, and snap a picture for the bonus of a shot at a quick getaway. Weakness: Taking a photo of a Phantom will make it temporarily disappear. Strength: Looking at a Phantom will drop your sanity considerably faster. They are most commonly summoned from Ouija Boards. Phantomĭescription: A Phantom is a ghost that can possess the living, inducing fear into those around it. Also, if your EMF goes off randomly through the map, the wraith could be teleporting to you, but make sure this is not a one-off ghost event if it happens more often, chances are it’s a wraith. Consider using salt as well, along with a UV light/glowstick if the wraith leaves marks on the salt, aim your UV light towards any signs of movement, as most ghosts will often leave footprints, but not the wraith, indicating a greater likelihood that this is the ghost you’re dealing with. Combine that with the mainstay Spirit Box and EMF for finding evidence, both of which are relatively easy to use. Wraiths can be hard to identify due to their strengths, but the DOTS Projector makes this an easier task as they’ll track silhouettes, not footprints. Weakness: Wraiths have a toxic reaction to Salt. Strength: Wraiths rarely touch the ground, meaning they can’t be tracked by footsteps. It is also the only known ghost that has the ability of flight and has sometimes been known to travel through walls. Wraithĭescription: Wraiths are one of the most dangerous ghosts you will find. If it hunts only after those 3 minutes up, there’s a greater likelihood of it being a spirit, due to its aversion to the tool. If you isolate the ghost’s location though, use smudge sticks, as this will usually prevent hunts for a full 3 minutes. But due to it not having very distinctive features if you don’t gather all the evidence, it can be mistaken for other ghosts. Spirits are approachable ghost types for Phasmophobia newcomers, as you can get your setup done, gather your evidence, identify, and potentially leave quickly. Weakness: A spirit can be temporarily stopped by burning Smudge Sticks near them. They defend their place of death to the utmost degree, killing anyone that is caught overstaying their welcome. They are very powerful, but passive, only attacking when they need to. Description: Spirits are very common ghosts. Druett shows that real leadership is rare and powerful. Still, should the occasion arise, hope to be marooned with a Shackleton or a Musgrave. They wreck in winter, when there are fewer seals and shellfish they have no gun they are unable to salvage anything from the boat in the way of shelter or clothing, not even their boots. To be fair, though, the Scottish group has it tougher from the beginning. Yet, “hunger is certainly a good sauce,” he writes in his journal, along with “This is picnicking in reality.”ĭruett wants to make the case that the castaways’ different outcomes were the result of leadership and “moral caliber,” and for the most part, she succeeds. Sometimes they must eat tough old seals, which Captain Musgrave describes as almost inedible. Even better, the men have a flair for narrative. If you ever wanted to know how to kill an 800-pound seal with a cudgel, read this book. But Druett is an able and thorough guide to the minutiae of castaway life. Many of the survivors wrote their accounts years afterward. Then he ran off across the tussock, in fear for his life.” After just three months, only three of the original 19 remain.Ĭonstructing a reliable story out of memoirs is a challenge. “Knowing that a blow on the head while his back was turned would spell the end for him, he scaled the cliff as fast as he could. He tries to rouse the survivors to hunt and make shelter, but gives up after some of them threaten to eat him. If the southern part of Auckland Island is all “Robinson Crusoe,” the northern part is more “Lord of the Flies.” Evidently the only man with a grip on the situation is a low-ranking sailor named Robert Holding. The rest resort to anarchy, rage, cannibalism and torpor. The captain, George Dalgarno, appears to fall into despair and madness. Meanwhile, rather deliciously from a narrative perspective, 20 miles northwest, a Scottish square-rigger strikes a reef and sinks, disgorging 19 survivors onto the coast there. “Raynal related that when the captain read out Christ’s exhortation to his disciples to love one another, all the listeners ‘burst into tears,’ ” Druett writes. Eight days after the wreck, the sun comes out and the men emerge from a sailcloth tent, Bible in hand. Musgrave’s men - a French gold miner named François Raynal, a leprosy-deformed Portuguese cook, a stoic Norwegian and a young Englishman - band together in a common quest for survival. Thomas Musgrave of Britain, is so organized and morale-boosting as to be almost comical, reminiscent of Ernest Shackleton’s crew stranded on a hunk of ice in the Weddell Sea. Their divergent experiences provide a riveting study of the extremes of human nature and the effects of good (and bad) leadership. Drawn from a number of memoirs, “Island of the Lost” recounts the privations of not just one but two parties of castaways who, unbeknownst to each other, clawed themselves out of the heaving sea on opposite ends of the main island in 1864. It is these few that have captured the New Zealand maritime historian Joan Druett, the author of many previous sea-based books of fiction and nonfiction. A few survived to tell some of the most wretched tales in the shipwreck canon. Most of the rest died slowly of exposure or starvation. If ships got too close, the ferocious subantarctic winds would crumple them against shallow reefs and the islands’ tall cliffs. Their isolation makes them a treasure today for conservationists, but 140 years ago they were often a death warrant for seamen. Some 300 miles south of New Zealand, the islands are forbidding. Today the Auckland Islands are a sanctuary for one of the world’s rarest seals, the Hooker’s sea lion.
